Why MS Dhoni collect stumps – Anyone who is a cricket fan and especially Dhoni fan would have noticed that MS Dhoni has a habit of collecting a stump after every win. MS Dhoni is one of the great players of the cricket world and his name is taken after Sachin Tendulkar. Whenever MS Dhoni wins a match, he brings with him a stump of that match.

Various stories on as to why MS Dhoni collect stumps have been doing the rounds. Some people said that M.S. Dhoni’s zodiac is cancer, and as per the traits of his sun sign if a person starts collecting something, he/she keeps on collecting it. Another story claimed that Dhoni has been collecting stumps to help one of his friends to build a fence around his house with it. Really?? Can you believe this? Neither can we. Anyone can tell that these stories are not correct. But nobody really knew as to why ‘captain cool’ does so?

So, why MS Dhoni collect stumps? This secret was finally revealed by Dhoni himself. In an interview, MS Dhoni was asked as to why he collects stumps? He said jokingly that this is his retirement plan. He said that he collects a lot of stumps but does not mark anything on them. So, after retirement, he will watch videos of all the matches and will look at the sponsor’s logo on the stumps to find out which stump is from which match. This will be his post-cricket time pass. Wow…That sure is long-term planning of Captain Cool.
Why MS Dhoni collect stumps
During Cricket World Cup 2015, he tried to pull out a stump after winning the first match. He was denied by the umpires as the stump had special LED lights and was costly. So, reportedly, after that ICC started using a wooden stump in between the two LED stumps so Dhoni could take the stump after every win and add it to his collection.
