Wimbledon Finals – Serena Williams vs Simona Halep
The final game of women’s single included Romania’s, Simona Halep and America’s, Serena Williams. Serena is a more experienced player than Simona and her run to the finals was breath-taking. She powered through all the rounds to make it to the finals. She was also on the quest to match Margaret Court’s all-time Grand Slam record. Simona Halep has been in a superb form in the last 36 months. She is currently ranked the world’s number 7. Halep’s strengths lie in her speed and movement whereas Williams due to her age, struggles in running large areas of the court and relies on her power strokes. Williams is currently ranked number 11 in the world.

The match that took place on Saturday in the centre court was extremely entertaining as well as shocking. Many came to the court thinking that the result will be a coin toss between the two but Halep had other things in her mind. The Romanian played with an out of the world performance winning the 6-2, 6-2. Halep knew how to break down Serena. She hit the ball in the right areas and was ready to sprint for the power strokes that Serena hits. Halep was serving better, winning way more rallies. All this started to annoy Serena and it could be seen in her body language. After losing the first set Serena decided to show more grit and tried to comeback in the game but Halep was once again able to shut her down. It was a completely dominant and masterful performance by Simona Halep. After the game Serena said that Halep played out of her mind and congratulated the Romanian on her first Wimbledon title. In the post-match interview, Halep herself said that she outperformed her own expectations and this was the best performance of her career.
