In what was an invigorating performance by the franchisee, the wiped the floor with the Trailblazers, cleaning them apart with what was a supremely illustrious clinical showing.

Not supposed to be on the batting front as Deepti began the 18th over, Mithali was bowled off the very first ball of an over that sparked an incredible lapse in Velocity. As she walked back for 17, Shikha Pandey saw the ball go through her pad and bat to be bowled for 0. Amelia Kerr suffered the same calamitous dismissal, trying to go an expansive shot rather than working the ball around and with 5 batters putting on just 2 runs, Velocity were left struggling for breath.

A 48-run stand for the second wicket was enough platform to see Velocity edge through with comfort in the end.

Previously, the Trailblazers had endured a torrid time while batting first after losing the toss. As of last match’s half-centurion, Smriti Mandhana departed early on for just the 10 runs, dismissed by Shikha Pandey, the batting side saw nothing turn their way. It was a dejected batting effort, one that saw no one apart from Harleen Deol (43) interested in helping the side resurrect their innings.
