ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 11th Match Preview Prediction

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 11th Match Preview Prediction – The World cup history has seen a lot of redemptions but none better than Pakistan who has been so unpredictable and unexpected that they surprise themselves more often than not. For Pakistan, there is no connection with yesterday and will probably have none tomorrow as well. To expect them of consistency is a mere fallacy and Sri Lanka would know that. They too have outdone a defeat against Afghanistan whose inexperience was clearly shown when each of their batsmen tried hoicking when the idea was to stand and wait for a bad ball. Sri Lanka also knows how passionate the Pakistani side becomes after a win as this can be traced back to their emphatic recovery after they lost their first match against India in the Champions trophy.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 11th Match Preview Prediction – Pakistan Team

Pakistan has seen a road to recovery by beating the tournament favorites who also possess a lethal batting attack as well. What would make them more comfortable in approaching the next game would be defeating a team which was the find of the tournament. With a match against Sri Lanka, they would like to emphasize more on consistency and to earn two more points to get ahead in the points table which looks chaotic right now.

The batting looked solid in the second match with Fakhar and Imam playing their natural shots more often. To score around 350 runs without a single player getting a century can be termed an emphatic turnaround. Most of the batters contributed in their batting efforts starting with Fakhar and Imam who laid the road for most others to come. Babar Azam at number three was brilliant with bat and rotating strike while Hafeez and Sarfaraz played their parts too. What they would love to improve is to bat more and convert one inning into a three-figure score. This gives the team an impetus. The team has also not been able to take the benefits of Shoaib Malik who was sent to bat at number six, a position where he hasn’t spent considerable timing. Malik, the oldest war dog for Pakistan in this tournament has been tasked to finish the inning, a role Malik has not donned for quite a long time. While it seems to be going alright in the team, he will still be playing at the same spot. A promotion for him at number four would be ideal as he could not complete the role he was asked for in the last match.

The bowling looked somewhat average in their approach barring Amir who looked back in touch with those twist arm deliveries which ask batsmen a lot of questions. He tried bowling seam-up deliveries which often became unplayable. A lot of English batsmen tried playing his overs out in order to not take any troubles. Overall it was a good ploy to start with a spinner to unsettle the English batsmen. But against a sub-continental side, they will be back again with pace from both ends as well. the team would want to bring back Imad Wasim who made way for Asif Ali to strengthen the batting while also bringing back into fold Shaheen Afridi for Hasan Ali whose form has dipped considerably in the last year.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 11th Match Preview Prediction – Sri Lanka Team

It was all grumpy in the Sri Lankan dressing room unless they took to bowling in their second match against Afghanistan. They had been bundled out for about 200 runs and the situation looked grim. But what upheld their confidence was Malinga getting into some really great action. But despite his personal efforts, he was not getting support from his fielders who dropped two catches. But when he finally got one, he decided not to party and went out of the huddle. This had an immediate impact on other bowlers and particularly Pradeep who started bowling some unplayable deliveries. This is how the Sri Lankan victory can be easily summarised.

When they came out to bat, it seemed the Pakistani side had some impacts on them as well but the enthuse was all gone when Lahuri Thirimanne was dismissed for a score of 142. From 142-2, the team crumbled to 175-7 before finally being bundled out for 201 runs in a rain-curtailed match for 41 overs. This tells a story of a middle order which learned nothing from their previous outing against New Zealand.

The story seemed grim and the shoulders had started to drop in the Sri Lankan squad until Malinga found the edge of Shahzad and instilled some confidence in the bowling line up. It was a tough ask which the Sri Lankan bowlers put out to before getting their opposition to succumb under pressure. When they get out again Pakistan, they would look to be more aggressive in their bowling should they bowl again to get some momentum going in the tournament.
