MI vs KKR match 56th highlights
When the Indian Premier League had begun its sojourn more than a month back, envisioning the Mumbai Indians at the echelon of the league table was a tepid ask. However, with the previous three times champions seamlessly blending in clinical batting displays with deadly bowling performances across their 14 matches, the 9 wins see them finish the group stage having consolidated position one all for themselves.
Resonating yet another sensational and thrilling display at the Wankhede Stadium, the Indians made light work of KKR in the concluding match of the group stage. In what was a must win encounter for them to make a foray into the pivotal top 2 spot, Mumbai Indians came hot off the blocks, as they tore apart the opposition by 9 wickets on the night.
Winning an extremely crucial toss, MI proved it to be the right decision with a decisive bowling performance. Be it the pace or spin department, the entire bowling unit functioned illustriously in unison to tighten the screws around the KKR innings which was never able to take off.

Apart from Lynn’s 29 ball 41, there was nothing else that happened for KKR. Playing one of the most irresponsible and maligned innings of the tournament, especially in a match of such magnitude, Robin came under extreme criticism. Eating up 47 balls, an underwhelming and cringeworthy innings saw him play out to achieve personal goals rather than helping the team’s cause as he managed to get just 41 runs in them. Losing wickets at regular intervals, KKR gave away 3 to Malinga and 2 each to Bumrah and Pandya to reach just 133 at the end of 20 overs.
If the batting display was undisciplined, the bowling effort was even more unsavoury. Spraying the bowling all over the pitch, KKR were never able to pile any sort of pressure on Mumbai. The singles were too easy to come by and the boundaries even easier to negotiate and Quinton (30), Rohit (55) and Suryakumar (46) made full use of the flabbergasting bowling thrown their way.
